Have you seen a neighbor walking on your street with blue safety reflector straps? That’s a member of our new PDR Neighborhood Watch group! Wave or stop and say hello. We are making observations while we are out and about, looking for suspicious activity and individuals and getting to know our neighbors. If we see something suspicious, we immediately call 911. You can do that too without even leaving your home. Join us and learn how Sunnyvale DPS wants us to be their eyes and ears through observation and reporting.
At the March 27 PDRRA meeting, Lt. Ramirez our Sunnyvale DPS Crime Prevention liaison, spoke to us about the spike in PDR home burglaries earlier this year. There were five other officers with him. Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety gave us 2 Neighborhood street signs and we purchased 4 more. These signs, along with the Neighborhood Watch window decals, are a deterrent to people who would do harm to our community and neighbors.
But deterrence is not enough! We need to know who our neighbors are and look out for our community. For PDRNW, the park has been divided into 6 zones, each with 2-4 block captains. Each zone will have quarterly zone events so neighbors can get to know each other and learn how to keep our park safe.
PDRNW will have an information and sign up table at Social Club cookouts on Thursdays at 5:30 June through July. Pick up information about how to secure your home and your neighborhood. Find out who your zone block captains are and sign up to join us.
Contact Enid Fox at 408 734-0750 or join our group on NextDoor (PDR Neighborhood Watch) for more information. You can also find us on Facebook at Plaza Del Rey Neighborhood Watch.
Treat your home like your car, keep doors and windows closed and locked when you are unable to attend to them. To see all our tips go to plazadeleryra.com.
Since a number of residents were not abe to attend the March 10th meeting on Emergency Preparedness, the handouts are posted below.
