The Board of Directors have established By-Laws to govern the PDR Residents Association. Click below to view and download.
These bylaws were ratified by the membership at a general meeting in the spring of 2018.
The Plaza del Rey Residents Association is a group of owners of homes in the park who got together when they saw a need to have some representation with the Park Owners in the decisions being made about life in our Park.
Michael McCarthy organized a meeting in the Spring of 2015. He , back then, had concerns about our future and was looking to research becoming a Co-Op. Others were concerned about the autonomy of management. A few of us felt there was a real need to “get involved” in what was going on.
We first discussed forming an HOA, but we realized we were not able to use that term:
Because we cannot collect mandatory dues nor hire a Management Firm to oversee contracts and the like for us, we needed to choose another route.
We formed a Residents Association: The Plaza Del Rey Residents Association.
The majority of the people who attended that first general meeting agreed that there was a need for such an organization. People volunteered to serve and were elected. The Association was formed. The elected Board went to work to build a framework from which to function.
A Constitution and By-Laws were created. A survey of the residents was circulated to determine what the greatest concerns were. We had 40% response! Next came Policies and procedures. The goals and objectives of the Association Board were formulated:
All of our pdrRA meetings are OPEN TO ALL RESIDENTS of Plaza del Rey, but the commitment of membership is required to be a part of the decisions and priorities of the Association.
Membership is FREE TO ALL, but the Board stated that it takes some money to operate an Association: to have a website to communicate and to publicize meetings, etc. We all agreed to be a non-profit association, and that application cost $825. It is “in process” with the appropriate government agency. Everyone should be grateful to those who donated and paid their annual dues last year as that allowed us to submit this application.
The membership suggested $20 a space as a DONATION PER YEAR, but again that is on a “what you are able to contribute” basis. No one will be dropped from membership for not donating. Every resident is welcome to join and add their voice.
The process for the election of Board members was agreed upon by the membership and was duly processed. Those election rules allow for all adult members who are over 18 and members of the Association to vote.
You do have to COMMIT AND JOIN. You can do that at any General Meeting or by going to our website: plazadelreyra.com and going to “Contact us.” Decisions about process and priorities are decided by the committed, active membership.
Make your voice be heard and be an active part of our process! Join the Association! Contribute your ideas and skills. We have affected change. We need to continue to affect change.
